Off the back of our announcement that Transform is officially a dbt Labs partner and our enthusiasm for dbt metrics, I am excited to share our new integration with dbt metrics! This integration will allow anyone who has metrics in dbt to instantly enable metric-centric, self-serve BI on top of these metrics in Transform.
dbt metrics & Transform
The dbt metrics integration allows you to use Transform’s self-serve business intelligence product by leveraging the metrics you have created in dbt. To use the integration, simply add the required Transform secrets to the CI/CD within your dbt project. As part of your CI/CD suite, Transform will parse your dbt metrics and build a model that is uploaded to Transform. Now all the metrics you have defined in dbt are available in Transform, so anyone in your organization can interact with them! This integration allows you to leverage all of Transform’s metrics-centric BI workflows without additional configuration. These workflows include:
- Capturing organizational context and metric metadata like metric descriptions, annotations, alerts, and questions
- A self-serve chart builder for business users to cut metrics by dimensions and perform governed analysis
- Anyone in your organization can build saved metric queries and dashboards, helping reduce the number of “Hey, quick data questions...” slacks the data team receives
